Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain employ hundreds of thousands of domestic workers, and Kenyans are among the most preferred nationalities due to their reputation for honesty, cleanliness, and excellent care standards. Available positions include housekeepers, nannies, babysitters, caregivers for the elderly, home cleaners, domestic helpers, family drivers, and live-in house managers.

Most domestic work positions in the Gulf are live-in roles, meaning accommodation and food are provided by the employer at no cost to you. This makes the earnings largely saveable. Domestic workers in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait typically earn KES 40,000–65,000 per month, while those in UAE tend to earn slightly higher. Experienced nannies, house managers, and elderly caregivers with proven references can negotiate higher packages of KES 70,000–100,000.

Gulf families — especially in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and UAE — employ Kenyan domestic workers for full household management, childcare, elder care, cooking, and general housekeeping. Many Kenyan domestic workers in the Gulf develop long-term relationships with their host families, often renewing their contracts for several years. Contract periods are typically two years, and employers are required to provide a return flight at contract end.
